SATURDAY AUGUST 11TH – PUZZLE LAKE PADDLE

Come explore the rugged shorelines of two or three pristine lakes nestled among red granite ridges up to
30m high, marred by only 6 waterfront mansions. For a change, we shall skip Loyst Lake and paddle all the
way around Puzzle Lake. Leisurely paddlers can keep pace with the fleet by shortcutting across any of several
narrow bays. To ease congestion at the Gull-to-Puzzle portage, experienced paddlers will be urged not to wait
until everybody has launched at the Gull-Creek put-in. Early portagers can explore the south bay of Puzzle Lake
before we convene the whole fleet near the mouth of this bay.
Distance: 10-17km full day paddle. Intermediate Level. Portage: 300m round-trip, steep near the middle and both ends.
