SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST – FRONTENAC CHALLENGE SLIDE LAKE LOOP HIKE
Each year Frontenac Provincial Park challenges hikers to complete 160km of trails in the park during September
and October. Slide Lake Loop at 23km is the longest, most rugged section, requiring an extra walk-in to the
trail head. To circumvent the walk we paddle in from Buck Lake. Traditional turkey dinner at Smitty’s following.
(Rain date Sunday, Sept.2nd)
12km paddling, 23km+ hiking. Be prepared for a long day 10+ hours. Call Margaret 613-542-9626 or email:
Alternate Activity: SYDENHAM LAKE POKER RUN
Hosted by Sydenham Lake Association, this event is not a race. We have four hours to explore Sydenham Lake, Eel Bay and Little Long Lake (if we choose). Each boater will collect a card with the chance to discard one and choose another at the next mystery dock. By chance only, the best poker hand will win. Each card drawn costs two dollars: 50 % of proceeds go to Southern Frontenac Community Services, 50% to poker hand winners. We are asked to dress up our boats and ourselves, promoting the club, and demonstrating appreciation of the natural beauty we enjoy in South Frontenac. Participants need not enter the poker game, but simply paddle with the group.
From 12:30 – 4 p.m. Paddle suitable for all levels. Contact Dave 613-376-6883 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
