We start at the end of Clear Lake Road. Hike on a dirt road for 3 km to the park gate. Another kilometer gets us to Salmon Lake Loop. Here we have a choice: head toward campsite #5 and on to Slide Lake Loop and Mink Lake lookout (about 5 km); do Clear Lake loop (9 km); or head for Hemlock Lake loop (1 km to get to it and 5 km on the loop). The distances are roughly equivalent (18 km, 17 km or 15 km), and the terrain also.
